About
The Vortex is a feature film, starring Billy Gardell, Jaina Lee Ortiz, Jamie McShane, and Christopher Titus and Directed by Richard Zelniker. The film is about the MGM Grand house comedian and gambling addict (Billy Gardell) trying to win big and pay off his debts in 1980 Las Vegas. The film was shot on Red Gemini and Red Komodo with Angenieux Optimo DP Zooms. The bulk of the film was shot as a series of long takes on a Ronin 2 Gimbal. Also one sequence was shot using LED volume technology to recreate 1980 Fremont Street at dawn. The film was picked up for distribution by Synkronized and has had a limited theatrical run in 5 cities and is now available to rent, buy, or stream on Amazon Prime.
